James Culbertson

Culbertson, James A., 67, born January 26, 1948, died on Sunday December 20, 2015. James was the son of Malta Hill Culbertson and Glen Ancil Culbertson, and grew up in Paris, Kentucky. He graduated from Paris High and Eastern Kentucky University.

He held a Masters Degree in Education from UK. James is survived by his wife Sharon; daughters Tara, Julie and Kelly, and Samantha (Doug) Pulliam; granddaughter Emmy Jane Pulliam; and step son Tim (Jenny) Bynum; grandsons Luke and Nicholas; his brothers John (Rita), Glen (Barbara), Bill (Diane), Fred (Rose), and Joe; and sister Julie (Don) Robertson. James devoted his life to education. Notable positions he held were principal of Nicholasville Elementary School, Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary, Central Alternative in Lexington, and teacher in Mercer County Schools.

A memorial service was held 2:30pm Mon, Jan 4, 2016 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd., Lexington, KY. Visitation will begin at 12pm.

Doug Worthington

I was Facebook friends with James.  Since his death, there have been so many posts from his former students talking about what an influence he was on their lives.  Also, people have stopped by his page just to say they miss him. A true testament to the length of his life’s shadow has caste over those who came into contact with him.
