John Rankin

John Henry "Pepper Dick" Rankin, widower of Jo Ann Rankin, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Georgetown Community Hospital, Georgetown, Ky.

A native of Bourbon County, Ky., and a longtime resident of Cynthiana, and was the son of Loretta Henson and the late John "Bull" Henry Rankin Sr. He was educated in the old Western High School and graduated from Paris High School in 1966, the same year he married his wife of 47 years, Jo Ann Rankin.

In addition to his mother he leaves to mourn his memory five children, Tina Wilson White, LaShana McKee, Timothy Rankin, Cregg Hill, and Izzah Stout; 11 grandchildren, Marcus Wilson, Patrice Wilson, Tilon Howard, Christian Howard, Sydney Moore, Keiron Hill, Keenan Hill, Abrianna Auxier, Trey Stout, Joziah Stout, Keeton Stout; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Patricia Rankins of Lexington, Ky., Janice Rankins of Cleveland, Ohio, Teresa Henson of Paris, Ky.; one brother, Clayton (Dorthea) Rankins of Paris, Ky.; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Henson; a brother-in-law, Henry Brown; his best friend, Tobie; special friends William Emerson and Julie Harrington; a very special great-great-niece, Makayla Owens; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

In addition to his wife and father he was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher Rankin, one sister, Bertha "B.B." (Henry) Brown, two brothers, Bobby Ray "Look-up" (Mary Jane) Henson, Leroy "Snake" Henson, a father and mother-in-law, James and Kattie Wilson, and a sister-in-law, Edna Williams.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Friday, June 29 at Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home, 1120 Main St., Paris, Ky. by the Rev. Dr. Morgan Gilkey. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Friday, June 29 until the hour of service at the funeral home. The funeral arrangements were entrusted to Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home, Paris, Ky.
